Overview
During an upgrade of KOFF, you may experience a firebird.msg
error during the update/setup process.
Error 1310. Error writing to file: C:\Program Files(x86)\Kerio\Outlook Connector (Offline Edition)\firebird\firebird.msg. Verify that you have access to that directory.
The behavior has also been encountered when running the KOFF setup/upgrade as administrator.
Solution
The above behavior was identified as stemming from the Koffbackend.exe process running, while the setup is running.
The KOFF setup tries to kill/stop the Koffbackend.exe process, however, if the process does not terminate after 1 minute, this error can be encountered.
The workaround is to manually kill the Koffbackend.exe process from the Windows Task Manager and then clicking Retry.
Summary
Updating the Kerio Connect Outlook Connector (KOFF) can sometimes result in firebird.msg
errors. These can be resolved by following the steps outlined above, which entail killing the KoffBackend process.
