Overview
Users may experience an issue with high RAM usage by the KOFFIndexingService on their Remote Desktop Services (RDS)/ Terminal server. This problem can persist even after updating to the latest version of Kerio Connect. The excessive memory consumption can cause performance issues and slow down user sessions. This issue is often related to the indexing process of Kerio Connect, which can be memory-intensive, especially when dealing with large mailboxes or a significant amount of data to index.
Solution
This is the design of the KOFF cache service as explained further: the cache is prepared when the user sets up the profile for the first time. From that point, it is just maintained, it is never destroyed/rebuilt. The performance penalty while preparing a cache from scratch is much higher than just reusing it.
As for the question on cache size, the bigger the mailbox size, the bigger the cache footprint. This ensures you have a good user experience while searching for emails.
However, we would recommend trying the following steps to decrease the cache size:
- Cache Cleanup for KOFF: Start by Rebuilding KOFF Profile on Windows or Manually Clearing Outlook KOFF Cache on Client PC. If the problem continues, proceed with the following steps.
-
Clean Reinstall of KOFF:
- Close Outlook and use the KTUninstaller tool to remove KOFF. This utility should remove any residual registry entries and configuration files.
- Ensure that the directories:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Kerio\Outlook Connector (Offline Edition)
- C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Kerio\Outlook Connector are emptied or no longer exist after the uninstallation.
