Overview
This article explains upcoming changes to GFI Agent version support, their impact on your environment, and how to ensure continued platform connectivity. It covers version requirements, verification methods, update procedures, and product-specific guidance for maintaining optimal functionality.
Information
Effective in two weeks, on December 17th, 2024, all GFI Agent versions older than 1.2.62 will no longer be supported, and their connection to the platform will be refused.
This change will only impact environments where older agent versions are still in use. If any of your devices are running these outdated agents, you may experience instability and incomplete synchronization with the GFI App Manager platform, leading to a less optimal user experience. However, devices using newer agents will remain unaffected and fully functional.
The current agent version (at the time of writing) is 1.2.111, and we strongly encourage you to check and update any older agents to avoid potential disruptions. You can always verify the agent version:
- In logs/agent, or
- (For newer versions only) in Configuration > Remote Services > GFI AppManager.
Updating the Agent
There are a few ways to update your agent:
- Update the product to a newer version.
- Reinstall the current version.
- Perform a manual update of the agent.
During update or reinstallation, the product will always download and deploy latest agent version from our repository.
Additionally, newer agent versions (1.2.62 and above, including 1.2.62) are capable of self-updating, ensuring you always have the latest functionality.
