Overview
By following the steps described in this article, you can temporarily disable or delete user accounts in Kerio Connect. Both disabling and deleting an account frees up a license. However, you cannot disable or delete the following user accounts:
- Your own account
- User accounts with a higher level of administration rights than your account
Process
Disabling Users Temporarily
Disabled users cannot log into Kerio Connect. However, all messages and settings of these users are stored and can be used when the users are enabled.
- Log in to the Kerio Connect administration console.
- Navigate to Accounts > Users.
- Double-click on the user's account.
- In the General tab, disable the Account is enabled option.
- Click OK.
Now, the user cannot access the client or the Kerio Connect administration console. To reverse this action, go to the user's settings and select the Account is enabled option again.
Note: This action is different from blocking an account after entering an incorrect password several times.
Deleting Users Permanently
- Log in to the Kerio Connect administration console.
- Go to Accounts > Users.
- Select the required user.
- Click Remove.
- In the new window, select the required option:
- Keep the user's mailbox. When you create an account with the same username later, Kerio Connect automatically associates the new account with the old mailbox.
- Transfer it to another account in Kerio Connect.
- Delete the user's mailbox.
- Delete other settings of the user (aliases, roles, etc.).
Note: Instant messaging files are always deleted.
- Click OK.
Note: The information about deleting users is logged in the Warning logs. By default, they are stored in the following locations:- Windows:
C:\Program Files\Kerio\MailServer\store\logs
- Mac OS X:
/usr/local/kerio/mailserver/store/logs
- Linux:
/opt/kerio/mailserver/store/logs
