Overview
While attempting to start or install Kerio Connect in Windows, the Kerio Connect service doesn't start with the following error message:
1920 Service Kerio Connect (KerioMailServer) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services
As a side effect, the Kerio Connect service might be terminated with an Incorrect function error.
Solution
The standard Windows 1920 error means the application or service is lacking the required permissions' level.
When installing Kerio Connect, make sure to run the installer as an Administrator user.
Also, set antivirus exclusions for Kerio Connect if you're using 3rd-party Antivirus solutions.
When using a non-default drive for the Kerio Connect store, the Incorrect function might be an indication of encrypted Bitlocker volume.
Unlocking the disk with the password should resolve the Kerio Connect starting problem.
Testing
Attempt to start Kerio Connect manually from the Services.
The service will be started successfully.
