Overview
Users may experience issues with Microsoft Outlook Calendars using KOFF, specifically with shared resource calendars showing only "Busy" in Outlook, with no additional details.
An additional symptom of this issue is that shared user calendars are not updating when refreshing in Outlook Calendar, and you are seeing an exclamation mark next to the shared calendar:
Solution
This behavior is encountered when shared calendars are not added correctly in Outlook KOFF. Please note that due to the KOFF design, adding shared calendars in Outlook using the Open Calendar native Outlook functionality will not properly work, and result in the above behaviors.
The correct procedure to add shared accounts and resources in Outlook KOFF is depicted in our Making Shared Folders, Calendars, and Resources Visible in KOFF guide.
In order to fix this behavior, please follow the below simple steps:
- Remove the affected calendar/s from Outlook.
- Add each desired shared calendar (be it user or resource calendar) using the steps for Making Shared Folders, Calendars, and Resources Visible in KOFF
Please note that it is not possible to do this action in bulk from the admin console. Each KOFF user will need to undergo the above steps on their workstation in order to fix the issue.
Summary
This article provides a solution for issues with Microsoft Outlook, specifically with shared calendars not syncing and issues with resource calendar events displaying as "Busy" instead of showing detailed information. The solution involves removing the incorrectly added calendars and re-adding them through the proper steps.
