Overview
You can use user groups in Kerio Connect to:
- Set access rights to the Kerio Connect administration for multiple users.
- Deliver a single message to multiple users via a single email address.
You can't use user groups in Kerio Connect to:
- Send emails (a user group email address cannot be the sender of an email).
User groups belong to a domain. Each domain may include any number of local and mapped groups. The number of groups is not limited by your license.
This article is intended for Kerio Connect administrators and agents, who have access to the administration interface to manage user groups (at Accounts > Groups).
Process
This section contains the steps to:
Creating User Groups
- From the administration interface, navigate to Accounts > Groups.
- Select the domain under which you want to create a group.
- Click Add.
- In the General tab, enter a name and description for the group. Disable the Publish in Global Address List (GAL) option if needed.
- In the Email Addresses tab, add email addresses to the user group.
You can add any number of email addresses. You can also use existing usernames instead of their email addresses - any messages sent to the group email address will also be delivered to the original users.
- In the Users tab, click Add.
- Select the local users you want to add to the group and click OK. You can also go to Accounts > Users and select a group in the user's settings.
- In the Rights tab, set the access rights to the administration interface for the group.
- Click OK.
Mapping Groups From a Directory Service
To add groups from a directory service, you need to:
- Connect Kerio Connect to a directory service.
- Activate groups in the administration interface.
To activate groups, please follow the steps below:
- In the administration interface, navigate to Accounts > Groups.
- Select the domain under which you want to create a group.
- Click Add > Activate Existing Group from Directory Service.
- Select the groups you want to map to Kerio Connect.
- Click OK.
- The necessary groups will appear in the Groups menu.
Note: Kerio Connect does not map nested groups and users. The local groups cannot contain domain email addresses due to naming convention conflicts.
Exporting Group Members
To see the list of members in each group, you can export members of specific groups into a CSV file.
The data in the CSV file is organized as follows:
- Individual items are separated by semicolons.
- Information within individual items is separated by commas.
To export group members, please follow the steps below:
- In the administration interface, navigate to Accounts > Groups.
- Double-click on a group.
- In the Users tab, click Export.
- Kerio Connect saves the CSV file on your hard drive in the following format: users_<domain_name>_<group_name>_<date>.csv (e.g., users_company.com_TECHSUPPORT_2015-09-09.csv).
- Use a spreadsheet program or a text editor to open the file.
