Overview
If the user accidentally deleted public folders, Kerio Connect Administrators can restore it. The process involves recovering all public folders, i.e. public emails, calendars, contacts, etc.
This article describes the step-by-step procedure on how to restore public folders in the Windows environment with the configuration data stored in the default location C:\Program Files\Kerio\MailServer
and the backup stored locally.
Solution
- Stop the Kerio Connect.
- Open the Command Prompt (as Administrator) by going to Start > Run > type
cmd
> hit Enter. - Navigate to the Kerio Connect installation directory:
C:\Program Files\Kerio\MailServer
- Run the following
kmsrecover
command by specifying Public mask and particular Custom backup to restore from:kmsrecover.exe -m public store\backup\C20201013T125547Z.zip
- Type yes to continue. The
kmsrecover
command detects the path to the store automatically in the configuration file of Kerio Connect and recovers the public folders. - Start the Kerio Connect.
Additional Considerations
If needed, you can specify optional parameters:
- for the domain
-d company.domain
- for additional backup before the recovery starts
-b
Important: the backup can be stored on the external disc, e.g. E:\backup
. If there is a space in the directory name, enclose it within quotes, e.g., kmsrecover "E:\backup 2"
.
