Overview
This article serves as a guide for resetting the Bayes Database. It needs to be done if the database becomes corrupt, no longer effective or outdated. The error message RUNNING EXPIRE appears in the logs indicating that the database is corrupt.
Process
-
Stop Kerio Connect.
-
Navigate to the SpamAssassin folder inside the store directory.
-
Verify the location of the store directory in the web administration by Navigating to Configuration > Advanced Options > Store Directory tab.
-
Open the SpamAssassin folder and delete the folder named Bayes.
-
Run a Repair Install of Kerio Connect. You need a copy of Kerio Connect's Installer. Refer to the Kerio website for additional download details.
-
Start Kerio Connect again.
Confirmation
Resetting the Bayes database will allow Kerio Connect to learn what is spam/not spam all over again. The downside to resetting the Bayes database is that it will be prone to passing more spam than usual until Spam Assassin has learned enough emails as spam/not spam. Once the database has been rebuilt, one would observe less and less spam getting through Kerio Connect. The error message RUNNING EXPIRE no longer appears in the logs.
