Overview
Whenever you are unable to use KOFF or ActiveSync in Outlook Windows (for whatever reason), but you still need full calendar syncing in your Outlook client, you can still use IMAP and a 3rd-party CalDav plugin in order to have calendar sync.
This article provides a workaround for IMAP email clients who want to sync Calendar/Contacts, using the CalDav synchronizer extension, available for Windows Outlook users.
Prerequisites
Configure IMAP account in Outlook
Solution
- Download and install CalDAV Synchronizer from this link: CalDAV Synchronizer Download.
- Once installed, configure the CalDAV Synchronizer via its button in the Outlook toolbar.
- Click the green + sign to add a new configuration:
- Choose the Generic CalDAV/CardDAV configuration option.
- Fill out the necessary Kerio Connect user and server details.
For more information about CalDAV URLs, please refer to Accessing Calendars, Contacts, Tasks and Resources Using CalDAV and CardDAV URLs in Kerio Connect. - Click Test or discover settings and choose the necessary Calendar (personal, delegated, or resource). Click OK to close the Connection test successful window.
-
Now, click on Show Advanced Settings and enable the Use GlobalAppointmentID for UID attribute
ℹ️ This setting is used to prevent duplicate meeting invites to be sent out when using Outlook IMAP and the CalDAV Synchronizer plugin; if you leave this option unchecked, your invitees will receive duplicate invites because the server will receive 2 event invites from the client: one via SMTP and one via CalDAV, each with their own unique internal AppointmentID. Enabling this setting forces the usage of a single AppointmentID, and the server will discard the duplicate.
- If you're still experiencing issues after making these changes, you could also try enabling the SCHEDULE-AGENT=CLIENT option or the Do not send appointment notifications for SOGo option. These settings let Outlook handle the sending of meeting invites
Testing
Open Calendar tab and check the presence of events and appointments. Click on the Status option to view the synchronization state.
