Overview
You would like reminders for a public calendar event in Outlook. However, you receive the following warning message “The reminder for “<event name>” will not appear because the item is in a folder that doesn’t support reminders. Is this OK?”
Solution
Please note that this is Functionality as Designed (FAD) that the organizer cannot add himself to an event in a public calendar when using Webmail or Kerio Connect Client.
The functionality is available in Outlook when using KOFF by following these steps:
- You can be reminded of a public calendar event by adding yourself as an invitee manually. In the example image below, there are people invited to the event but this first invite will not trigger a reminder.
- To trigger a reminder, after the event is created, the user must configure the reminder on their copy of the event, located in their own calendar. They must first add themselves as in invitee and Outlook KOFF will give the following prompt:
If "Yes" is selected, the meeting will show up on their calendar as an invitee and allow the user to set up a reminder. - If the user is not trying to set up any reminders, they can choose one of the following two options:
- Set the event to not have any reminders
- Click "Yes" when prompted with the following:
- Set the event to not have any reminders
If you want this functionality in Webmail and Kerio Connect Client, please submit a feature request and if more customers are impacted and request this, our Development Team may include this in their roadmap faster.
