Overview
While trying to migrate the users to a directory service, you faced a problem that the users of Kerio local DB and the Directory Service users do not have the same username. You do not want to move user’s message folder to an account of another user as a subfolder. This article provides the solution of how to migrate the users with different usernames without losing the data.
Environment: OpenLDAP directory service
NOTE: OpenLDAP configuration is not directly supported by Kerio Connect. So, you are using this feature at your own risk!
The directory services officially supported by Kerio Connect are Microsoft Active Directory and Apple Open Directory. So, if you are not an experienced user, then, kindly reconsider your option and choose one of the 2 supported services.
Solution
If you are simply changing the users from authenticating locally in the Kerio Connect to authenticating via a directory service, please follow the steps in our article Changing the User's Authentication Method in Kerio Connect.
As noted in the article, if there is a mismatch between the user's username on Kerio Connect and the directory service, you can rename the user before doing the authentication change. This will help in preserving the old data when switching a user from internal DB User to directory Service User.
