Overview
Sometimes, after updating the Windows server, the Kerio Active Directory Extension (KADE) fails to update with the following error:
Error 1714. The older version of Active Directory Extension cannot be removed for Kerio Connect. Contact your technical support group.
The workaround to resolve the error mentioned above is to reset the KADE installation. This article explains how to clear up the Windows Registry to reset the KADE installation.
Preconditions
The Kerio Active Directory Extension should be installed.
Root Cause Analysis
The registry corruption occurs during the Windows server migration. This can block a successful KADE upgrade.
Workaround
- Create a backup of the system, including the registry.
- Open the Registry Editor.
- Go to Start > Run > type
regedit
> hit Enter.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
.
NOTE: The exact key varies depending on the version installed. In the latest versions of the Windows server (2016 and 2019), the registry key might be located in the
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\
folder.
Confirmation
The KADE is successfully upgraded to the latest version now.
