Fixing corrupted Calendars and Contacts

Overview

When users in the domain have incorrect Calendar access rights or permissions in Kerio Connect, they are unable to modify or delete the calendar items that they are supposed to have access to and vice versa. It can also happen that users can do the required actions in some email clients (Outlook KOFF, webmail), but not in others (Android, iOS) as this happens usually for the DAV protocol.

Also, it might happen that the Contacts cannot be deleted over the CardDAV protocol.

Solution

This usually happens if the .carddav.db and .caldav.db files in the database folders are corrupt. It is also possible that delegate access rights to the calendar are not set.

NOTE: The same procedure applies to Resource Calendar issues.

  1. Stop the Kerio Connect service.

  2. Navigate to the Kerio store directory.

  3. Navigate to the mail folder and create a backup of the following files:
NOTE: the below files may not be visible in macOS/Linux, as they are inherently hidden. If you are unable to see those files, you can either use a Terminal session to achieve the file movement, or enabling macOS/Linux flags to display hidden files in the UI.

    • .carddav.db
    • .carddav.db.bak
    • .caldav.db
    • .caldav.db.bak

  4. Delete the files mentioned in step 3.

NOTE: If the issue is only with Contacts, you can delete only the .carddav.db and .carddav.db.bak files.
  5. (Optional) If there are some issues with the mobile device synchronization (over WebDAV and IMAP protocols), you can back up and delete the .pushdav.db and .pushimap.db files.
  6. Start the Kerio Connect service and allow some time to re-populate the files.

If the issue is specifically with being unable to access a calendar event, please ensure that the calendar's owner has granted delegate access to their calendar to the user facing access issues.

Testing

Users should now be able to access calendars and contacts.
